"For we can do this with God’s help, which always remains available, even if we do not clearly perceive it."
St. Ignatius of Loyola, Spiritual Exercises #320
In this talk, we look at Rules 7 & 8 and the advice St. Ignatius gives us to get us through times of spiritual desolation.
Rule #7 - St. Ignatius tells us that even though we don’t feel God’s love and grace, God still gives us sufficient grace to get through the desolation.
Rule #8 - be patient: the desolation will pass and consolation will return.
Scriptures:
Acts 14:22
1 Corinthians 10:13
[This is a reposting of the talks I gave on St. Ignatius of Loyola’s rules for the discernment of spirits, drawing on Fr. Timothy Gallagher's material and the actual rules from the Spiritual Exercises. We edited out the Spanish translation from these teachings, so if it sounds clipped or you sometimes hear the translator’s voice overlapping, that is why.]
