"Rules to aid us toward perceiving and then understanding... the various movements in the soul: the good movements that they may be received, and the bad that they may be rejected."
Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, #313
In this second talk of the series, we look at the action of the good spirit and the bad spirit on, 1) a person moving away from God and going from serious sin to serious sin, or 2) a person moving toward God and trying to grow in holiness and leave serious sin behind.
[This is a reposting of the talks I gave on St. Ignatius of Loyola’s rules for the discernment of spirits, drawing on Fr. Timothy Gallagher's material as well as from the actual rules from the Spiritual Exercises. We edited out the Spanish translation from these teachings, so if it sounds clipped or you sometimes hear the translator’s voice overlapping, that is why.]
